"Several people stopped and asked what I was taking pictures of, and when I told them ‘patterns in the rocks,’ most just shook their heads and moved along."

Some people just don't get it. Great geo-pics! 👏👏

Great writing, Sandra—and great photographs. Sometimes things align: timing, light, subjects. Despite that alignment the key is to notice, pay attention. Going back to take photos at the same locations allows for a timeline of experiences like yours with the rocks.

Of the people wo stopped to ask what I was photographing, only one person actually looked at the rocks and said, "How cool!" Everyone else just shrugged or shook their heads and looked at me like I was nuts!

Sandra- I think rock patterns are so beautiful. You’re right to take notice. To me, the most stunning piece of its reality is how you can literally see time striations across its body. A great reminder.

Thanks Thalia. Its so nice to hear from someone who feels the same way. This post didn't garner much interest. My bird photography is much more popular.
