My friend who lives in Texas is an artist who draws, along with other subjects, birds, wildlife, historic buildings, and old working boats in graphite and charcoal. She took me to marinas in Rockport, Fulton, and Corpus Christi in Texas, to gather reference photos for her work. Boats…meh. I thought I’d probably just follow her around and hope I spotted some birds to photograph. Then I began to see interesting details and realized a whole new photographic opportunity was right in front of me. I’ve always been interested in abstract photography but have only photographed abstract patterns found in nature. I discovered how much fun it is to photograph the reflections in water created by the boats as well as the rough textures on these old well-worn boats. Here are some of my favorite Texas marina shots. I’d love to get your feedback, and I’ll post more of these in the future if you’d like. Enjoy!
I know this is a very stressful time for a lot of us so I hope my photos can bring a bit of beauty and peace into your lives. Stay tuned for many more photos from my Texas trip and thanks, as always, for following along.

I really like your reflections on the water. You are so right about noticing things that are right in front of you and so easily overlooked :-)
Well done Sandra! 👏 Great artists can find the special imagery wherever they are. Love the ripples and rust!
